Secret Garden Proposal — Simon & Laura | Wendy's Secret Garden Sydney
Some places carry a kind of magic that makes everything feel inevitable. Wendy's Secret Garden in Lavender Bay is one of them.
Simon had chosen it carefully — a place that meant something to both of them, tucked into the hillside above the harbour, wild and tended all at once. I arrived ahead of them, found my spot among the ferns and fig trees, and waited.
When Laura walked in, she had no idea.
The moment Simon got down on one knee, the garden seemed to go quiet. And then she said yes, and it wasn't quiet anymore. That laugh — surprised and certain at the same time — is the one I'll always remember from that afternoon.
After the garden we walked down to Kirribilli Wharf as the afternoon light started to soften. The harbour stretched out behind them, the Opera House just visible in the distance, and they were still in that particular daze that follows a yes — holding each other a little tighter than usual, laughing at nothing, completely in their own world.
I just stayed close and kept shooting.
