Overcast Engagement Shoot | Moody Couple Photography by Studio Tangerine Sydney

Some of my favourite light has no sun in it at all.

When the sky comes in low and heavy and the water goes still and silver — that's when I want to be shooting. Everything softens. Shadows disappear. Faces look exactly as they are, not how the midday sun decides they should.

Harleen and Harnoor chose a landscape that did all of that. Rolling cloud, water stretching to the horizon, hills fading into mist. It reminded me of the Blue Mountains on a winter morning. Of Kangaroo Valley when the fog hasn't lifted yet. Of every moody, atmospheric location within two hours of Sydney that I never get to shoot in enough.

They were stunning in it. Easy and warm with each other, completely unbothered by the weather, completely in their own world. I stayed close and let the landscape do what it does best.

If you're drawn to this kind of light — soft, dramatic, overcast — I'd love to find your version of it somewhere around Sydney.
