A romantic monsoon engagement shoot in Goa

Goa in the monsoon is a completely different place.

The greens turn impossibly vivid overnight. The air sits heavy and warm. The sky moves fast — brooding grey one moment, cracked open with gold the next. It is one of the most dramatic, most alive landscapes I have ever photographed in.

Henal and Sachin chose it on purpose. They wanted something real — not a manicured garden or a golden hour on cue, but weather that had its own mood and a location that pushed back a little. The monsoon delivered everything they asked for and then some.

We moved through rain-soaked foliage along the coastline, found clearings where the light broke through the clouds in long dramatic shafts, and let the landscape set the pace. There were moments where the sky darkened and the palms bent in the wind and these two just laughed — completely unbothered, completely each other's.

That's the thing about monsoon shoots. The unpredictability strips away the self-consciousness. Couples stop thinking about how they look and start just being together. And that's where the photographs happen.

Goa in the monsoon is not for everyone. But for Henal and Sachin, it was exactly right.
